Ignazio Alfieri Gentilli is an Italian writer. His novels explore the way human experience settles into the world and into time, in objects, in the body, in ideas, and the way it can be found again, lost, or passed through by someone who comes after.

He made his debut with La Geometria delle Tracce (The Geometry of Traces), set among the rooms of a building about to be demolished. It was followed by Il Codice di Vetro (The Glass Code), which enters the body and questions the relationship between time and error, and L'Eco delle Menti (The Echo of Minds), on ideas that pass through minds that have never met. With Il Teorema dell'Anima (The Theorem of the Soul), he brings his inquiry into the territory of philosophical fiction: in a Venice slowly swallowed by rising water, neuroscientific reductionism confronts medieval paleography and the irreducibility of subjective experience.

Moving between the rigor of philosophical reflection and the force of scientific imagination, his books share figures and names, such as Elias and Azal, who are not characters that continue from one novel to the next but forms that return, each time with a new face and a new method.
