Chris Sutherland

Chris Sutherland is a Scotland-based wine communicator, educator, importer and international wine competition judge, and the author of *If You Like This Wine… You’ll Probably Like…*, a practical guide designed to help everyday wine drinkers choose better bottles with confidence.

Chris is a WSET Diploma candidate and Valpolicella Wine Specialist, teaches WSET wine courses and has judged at international competitions including the International Wine Challenge. He also runs Decanting Veritas, an independent wine importing business focused on smaller, family-owned producers.

A recurring frustration in Chris' work is the communication gap between the wine industry and normal wine drinkers. Too often, wine is explained through technical language, classifications and insider terminology rather than the way people actually think about taste and enjoyment. His aim is to close that gap: explaining wine clearly, without dumbing it down, so trying something new feels less like a gamble.
