I love poetry. I have loved it all my life. I have written poems to celebrate wonderful times and I have written when grieving a loss.
Poetry is therapy, both reading and writing it. At times it makes you laugh out loud and other times you cry because finally someone has put into words what you are feeling.
The poems in this collection are a mixture of my life's observations and experiences. As a Christian, I have written about the hope my faith brings me. As a northerner, I have written about my wonderful childhood, from its first beginnings in Cheshire and Lancashire, and continuing in Lincolnshire. As a mother, I have written about the experience of raising two wonderful human beings who experience neurodiversity, and the challenges that has brought at times, especially with their education.
I have written about love, its joy and its pain. Some of the poems are just silly, and one expresses admiration for the actors in the sitcom A Fine Romance. The poem Something Like Perfection was written for them.
