Aaron Kagan

Aaron Kagan is a researcher and writer working at the intersection of cognitive science, philosophy of mind, and artificial intelligence.

His work focuses on embodied cognition—the idea that intelligence emerges through the dynamic interaction of brain, body, and environment rather than from the brain alone. Drawing on research across philosophy, psychology, neuroscience, and AI, he explores how minds work and what new forms of intelligent systems reveal about the nature of thought and perception.

In addition to his academic work, he has contributed to research and strategy on emerging technologies and human–AI interaction, including roles at companies such as Google and Meta. He also advises companies and product teams on the design, evaluation, and strategic application of AI systems.

An Introduction to the Embodied Mind: Thinking Outside the Head introduces readers to one of the most influential ideas in contemporary cognitive science and explores its implications for how we understand mind, intelligence, and artificial systems.
