B. LIBRE KAFELE (BARUTI LIBRE) is a political scientist, political economist, and author of Capital in the City and Who Pays for Development. His work analyzes the financial foundations, power structures, and historical evolution of modern cities while advancing practical solutions for equitable growth, sustainable development, and long-term urban prosperity. A native of Jersey City, New Jersey, Kafele earned a Master of Arts in Political Science with a concentration in United Nations and Global Policy Studies from Rutgers University in 2025, where he was inducted into the Pi Sigma Alpha National Political Science Honor Society. He is also a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Kean University, holding a bachelor’s degree in Political Science focused on International and Comparative Politics, with minors in Sociology and African American Studies. A multidisciplinary scholar and public intellectual, Kafele’s research spans political economy, urban development, international affairs, and the global African diaspora. He has lectured at universities, conferences, and civic institutions, emphasizing community empowerment through education, economic literacy, and engaged scholarship.
