Dr. Daniel Helmig spent nearly four decades navigating the corridors of global business, from the automotive headquarters of Detroit to the factory floors around London, from Munich's engineering culture to the boardrooms of Zurich. Over a career spanning automotive, computer, power & automation to even banking, he lived in four countries, worked directly in 46, and conducted business with his teams across more than 110 — a sweep of cultures, languages, and ways of thinking that few have the privilege of experiencing in a lifetime.
That breadth shaped him both as a strategist and a driver for change. Wherever he landed, whether negotiating in Singapore, restructuring operations in China, or sourcing from suppliers across Africa and Latin America, he found himself drawn to the human stories behind the deals. He knew that understanding the terrain — and the people in it — matters more than any plan.
Having studied in Cologne, Germany; at Michigan State in the USA; and at UBIS in Geneva, Switzerland, where he completed his doctorate, Daniel has always preferred to explain complex ideas through stories and metaphors rather than slide decks. That instinct eventually led him to writing.
The London Dialogues is his first book. It will not be his last. Daniel explores the intersection of philosophy, culture, business, and the life worth living. Whether fiction or non-fiction, his books carry the curiosity of a lifelong traveller, the discipline of a senior executive, and the belief that the most important questions rarely appear on any agenda.
Daniel lives with his wife near Lake Zurich, Switzerland.
