To me, regular people are the real heroes. People who fail and cry and laugh and fight and lose. People who get up the next day and do it all over again. These are the people I want to write about. There are no vampires, no capes, and no kilts in my novels. Only people like the ones you know. Like you. And your grandparents and your neighbors. People who, sometimes, can't say what they feel because their feelings are too strong. Too raw. Too powerful.

I've managed hundreds of people and I've cleaned toilets. Spent time with soldiers. And with robots. I possess several college degrees, but I learn something new every day.

My daughter and grandkids live too far away, and my neighbors live too close. My wife is my best friend and my harshest critic.

I wouldn't have it any other way.
