Long Dao

Long Dao is a husband, father of two young girls, endurance athlete, and technology consultant whose experience with early parenthood challenged nearly everything he thought he knew about himself. A Principal Architect by profession, he spends his working life solving complex problems and his personal life chasing long races, good food, and the next opportunity to learn something new.

After discovering that the first months of fatherhood were far more emotionally complex than he had ever been prepared for, he began writing as a way to make sense of the exhaustion, frustration, guilt, and self-doubt that many new fathers feel but rarely say out loud. That reflection became The Father I Thought I’d Be, his first book. Through honesty, humor, and emotional candor, Long hopes his work helps fathers feel less alone, less ashamed, and more able to give themselves grace in the difficult early months of parenting.
