How the Rory Headren Books came about, begins in 1967 in 'swinging' London, when Doreen first met handsome Harry O'Flaherty, her husband-to-be, when he was writing a novel about Boudicca's rebellion against the Romans, but time when by and he used every excuse under the sun as to why it wasn't being finished.
With time running out, Doreen offered to help him but with his typical procrastination, he decided to write about a fictional shield used at the Battle of Marathon. Then he switched back to wanting to write about Boudicca!
By now, Doreen had become engrossed in researching the background to the story about the Marathon Shield, and unexpectedly became an author of The Shield of Marathon, The Sword of Thebes and The Axe of Thrace!
Harry finally found the discipline to finish his book and Wolfhead was published in 2023. Sadly, he died just 10 months later while working on a second novel. Rory Headren was his idea. An anagram of Harry and Doreen.
