Matthew Hampton writes children's books from Surprise, Arizona — gentle, heartwarming stories that help little kids understand their big feelings, and decodable phonics readers that help brand-new readers sound out their very first words.

His Sprout Feels series is a growing collection of social-emotional picture books for ages 3–7 — one big feeling per book. From Mad and Worried to Sad, Scared, Jealous, Excited, Embarrassed, and Proud, each story follows Sprout the little green dinosaur and his best friend Bear as they learn a simple, named calm-down skill kids can actually use — like "The Sprout Stop" for the hot, roary feeling of being mad. Every book closes with an affirmation, a note for grown-ups, and activities to carry the feeling off the page.

His Reading with Sprout series is a 14-book structured-literacy progression — one CVC word family per book — built for kids who are just starting to crack the reading code. Every word is fully decodable. No guessing from pictures. No memorizing sight words. Just the real win of finishing a whole book all by yourself.

His Sprout & The Friendship Tree series follows Sprout and his friends — Rosie, Sunny, Slate, Pip, Ember, and the Bullysaur — through gentle adventures about kindness, humility, and the courage to be yourself.

What started as one simple question — "What if a little dinosaur could teach my own son to be kind?" — grew into a whole world Matthew now writes for every kid who needs a friend on the page while they learn to read, learn to feel, and learn to grow.

Matthew publishes through VaultPrintCo, an independent studio in Surprise, Arizona, where he also creates phonics workbooks, guided journals, planners, and faith-based resources for families.
