Claude Piel is an international journalist, political scientist, and law graduate with extensive cross-border professional experience. Drawing on her background in global crisis zones and strategic communications, she connects perspectives from the Global South and the Global North to develop a European view of the major power shifts and future challenges of our time. Her career includes editorial leadership across 25 countries and 8 languages.
Her earlier book, The Battle for Water, laid the foundation for an analysis of global interdependencies; the English edition was presented in the context of the UN 2023 Water Conference in New York and listed on the UN DESA SDG Actions/Partnerships Platform under SDG 6.
In her latest work, Dark Sea, she extends this perspective from source-to-sea, examining how conflicts over the use of resources on land evolve into questions of geopolitics, security, and sovereignty at sea.
