Sara Cooper is a novelist and playwright-lyricist whose work blends dark humor, psychological insight, and sharp cultural critique. Her novel RAVENOUS was a finalist for the 2025 Tucson Festival of Books Literary Awards and will be published in August 2026 by Fernwood Publishing, Roseway imprint. In theatre, Sara’s work has received awards and honors from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, American Theatre Wing, New York State Council on the Arts, National Alliance for Musical Theatre, and ASCAP, and she holds an MFA from New York University’s Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program.
In her fiction, Sara writes incisive, feminist stories about women navigating the pressures of contemporary culture, particularly consumerism, wellness culture, and the performance of perfection. She skewers the absurdities of modern life while keeping a compassionate eye on the women trying to survive them. Sara’s novels fuse biting satire with emotional vulnerability and psychological depth.
