Alan Hicks

From a small rural town in the foothills of the Appalachian mountains, the author began playing the guitar at the age of 8. Leaving school at the age of 15 he began his career as a musician, where he spent the next twenty years living out of a suitcase and traveling the world. Throughout his travels he became associated with two of the largest outlaw motorcycle clubs in the world. Years of drug addiction, alcohol abuse and sexual promiscuity led him down into a deep dark place where only the hand of God was able to set him free. Even as a minister, his demons returned causing him to sink deep into depression and despair, where he fell back into his old familiar ways. Through all this, God never released him from his grip. Once again he is on the road playing music with his band The Lovesick Drifters, and when he is home he enjoys his family and his backyard sanctuary.
