Dr. Robert Hutcherson is a highly respected expert in organizational improvement, with a career that dates back to the 1980s. Over the decades, he has worked with an extensive range of clients across both commercial and federal sectors. Notably, he led the largest-ever Lean Six Sigma deployment for the entire United States Army. Many of his initiatives have earned prestigious Pentagon-level awards, with enterprise-wide projects delivering cost savings exceeding four billion dollars for his clients.
As the founder and owner of Optimize, a service-disabled veteran-owned business established in 2010, Robert was inspired to address the recurring sub-optimal outcomes of prior organizational improvement efforts in both federal and commercial markets. His philosophy is grounded in delivering exceptional value for clients, emphasizing the transition from incremental improvements to true optimization. Optimize reflects this ethos by strategically aligning the organization to optimally execute optimizing efficiency and effectiveness.
Robert's dedication to organizational optimization spans a variety of sectors, including municipalities, states, nations, businesses, sports teams, and other organizational entities. His international upbringing, born in Zaragoza, Spain, in 1961, coupled with bilingual fluency, brings a global dimension to his work.
A proud U.S. Air Force veteran, Robert has also demonstrated a commitment to lifelong learning. He holds a master’s degree in business management and a bachelor’s degree in industrial technology and a Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership.
He has published three books:
* Organizational Optimization (2014) - A practical business book introducing the Organizational Optimization methodology—an integrated approach to executing strategy with greater effectiveness and efficiency.
* Journey to Optimization (2025) - A guide for organizational leaders who want to adopt Organizational Optimization and understand the pathway for building a more aligned, effective, efficient, and resilient organization.
* Optimize Your Life (2025) - A personal-development guide for individuals who want to assess what matters most, establish meaningful priorities, and make the most of every area of their lives.
