Nicholas Hudson

Nicholas Hudson spent fifteen years trying to answer one question: why do some women survive violent encounters while others — often more physically capable — do not?

The search took him through criminal psychology, neuroscience, military stress conditioning, and elite performance research. He trained to master level in Wing Chun Kung Fu under a combat world champion, taught self-defence across multiple disciplines, and trained alongside professional combat athletes for over a decade.

What he found contradicted almost everything the self-defence industry teaches. Survival had less to do with strength or technique than with awareness, pre-decided permission, and the ability to read a situation before it escalates. The research that confirmed this came from FBI Behavioral Science Unit studies, criminological literature on pre-assault patterns, and leading violence prevention researchers.

He built a system around those findings. Then he spent two more years testing whether it could be taught — and whether it could work for someone with no training at all.

He wrote The Art of Personal Protection first for his daughters. It is for every woman who deserved better than to walk home afraid.
