Kitt McClain

Kitt McClain writes emotionally layered women’s fiction centered on identity, family legacy, memory, and reinvention. Her work explores the lives of Black women navigating ambition, love, grief, and the quiet unraveling that happens when carefully controlled lives begin to shift.

Her debut novel, Becoming Liz, is the first installment in the Legacy Series, a multigenerational saga tracing the women of one family across decades of sacrifice, survival, and self-discovery. Set in 1988 St. Louis, the novel follows Elizabeth Rutland, a successful businesswoman whose public breakup forces her to confront long-buried memories and reconsider the life she built to protect herself.

Writing under RE Grace Publishing, Kitt McClain creates stories rooted in emotional honesty, community, resilience, and the enduring bonds between Black women and their families.

When she isn’t writing, she can often be found curating playlists for her characters, revising late into the night, or working on the next novel in the Legacy Series.
