Andrew Nightingale

Andrew Nightingale is an independent philosopher, poet, and logician living in Chumphon, Thailand. He completed his dissertation with Mahidol University on vagueness as the embodiment of inquiry, and earlier degrees in mathematics from Earlham College and Loyola University. His book A Defense of Poetry Against the Mathematicians (2019) argues that imprecision in language is not a defect but a form of inquiry, and that precision-oriented thought protects the powerful at the cost of meaning. His bilingual poetry collection L'ombre de la Bodhi appeared in French translation. He has co-authored work in media studies, including "Time, Realism, News" in the journal Journalism (Sage, 2017).
