Rhoshell Baker

Rhoshell Baker is a Jamaican-born American-Canadian author whose writing moves confidently between darkness and laughter. She writes dark thrillers, psychological and speculative fiction, mysteries, political fiction, and humorous stories. Across genres, her work explores the fragile space where violence meets humanity, where ordinary people face extraordinary choices, and where an unexpected laugh can emerge from even life’s most difficult moments.

Rhoshell is the author of the standalone revenge thriller Revenge of Xinli, an unflinching exploration of trauma, survival, vengeance, and the devastating cost of turning oneself into a weapon. The idea for the novel was inspired by her admiration for action-revenge films such as Kill Bill and John Wick, which examine not only violence, but also the grief, loyalty, and humanity beneath it. Through Xinli’s journey, Rhoshell asks what remains of a person when revenge becomes both a purpose and an identity.

Rhoshell is a happy wife and a proud mother. When she is not writing or designing roadways, she enjoys watching classic action and horror films with Jupiter, her rescued cat, and attempting—often unsuccessfully—to grow plants. She lives with her family and a determined garden that refuses to die.
