Joseph A. Packowski

Joe Packowski is a Senior Lecturer and teaching faculty member in the Communication, Professional, and Computer Skills Area at the Kelley School of Business, Indiana University Bloomington. After a 25-year career in sales, recruiting, and organizational leadership with two Fortune 400 companies, he transitioned to higher education to help prepare the next generation of professionals for meaningful careers and lifelong growth. Through experiential learning, authentic assessment, and a philosophy of designing learning to be transformational versus transactional, Joe empowers students to bridge academic knowledge with real-world application.

Highlights:

• Recipient of the Kelley School of Business 2023 Trustee’s Teaching Award, recognizing excellence in teaching and student impact.

• Has taught and mentored thousands of students in professional development, leadership, recruiting preparedness, emotional intelligence, personal branding, managing and leading organizations, consultative selling, and career readiness.

• National presenter and workshop facilitator for organizations including the Lilly Teaching Conference and the Management and Organizational Behavior Teaching Society Conference.

• Holds a Master of Professional Studies in Organization Development and Change from Penn State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Rochester.

• Currently pursuing an Ed.D. in Instructional Systems Technology at Indiana University’s School of Education.

• Certified BlueEQ™ Facilitator, specializing in leading with emotional intelligence and personal development.

When not teaching, Joe enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, playing acoustic guitar, pursuing a whole-foods plant-based lifestyle, and embracing the philosophy of Kaizen (continuous improvement) in both life and work.
