Jeff Kurrus

Jeff Kurrus is an award-winning Nebraska children's author, photographer and editor of Nebraskaland Magazine. His book The Legend of Donnie Bats: Greatness Lives in Every Kid received the Children's Award in the 2026 Nebraska Book Awards, and Have You Seen Mary? was a 2014 Nebraska Golden Sower Picture Book nominee. His books draw on baseball, wildlife and the outdoors, with reluctant readers especially in mind. Jeff leads hands-on K–8 school programs across Nebraska, working directly with students to explore the writing process and the choices that turn an idea into a finished book. He grew up catching fish and writing stories in the woods outside Memphis.
