Katrina Hunter

Katrina Hunter is an Australian author and researcher holding a Master’s degree, with a deep passion for uncovering hidden threads of medieval history, allegory, and art.

Her literary journey began at the Abbey of Fontfroide in France. Spotting a medieval statue with an uncanny resemblance to "The Fool" from the Tarot of Marseille, Katrina was pulled into an eleven-year dedication to the project. She spent five years exploring the landscapes of the South of France, followed by years of intensive research analysing each card to form the complex historical puzzle of her story.

Her work reveals a brilliant theory: that the 22 cards were actually a sophisticated allegorical code used by 13th-century troubadours to hide secrets from the newly formed Inquisition. This discovery inspired both her debut historical mystery novel, "22 Tricks", and her companion deck, "The Tarot of 22 Tricks".
