Robert Moore

Robert Moore is the author of The Leaders You Leave Behind: Mission First, People Always, a practical leadership book shaped by more than three decades of experience in military, public education, nonprofit, and technology leadership.

Moore began his career as an enlisted soldier in the United States Army, serving in intelligence and psychological operations before earning a commission and rising to the rank of Captain. His military experience, including overseas and combat deployments, shaped a leadership philosophy grounded in accountability, discipline, trust, and care for the people responsible for carrying the mission forward.

After leaving active duty, Moore carried those principles into civilian leadership. He served in public education technology for more than two decades, rising from network technician to Chief Information Officer for one of Kentucky’s largest school districts. In that role, he led large teams, managed multimillion-dollar budgets, advised senior leadership, and helped build the kind of organizational culture where people could grow into leaders themselves.

Today, Moore serves as Senior Director of Information Technology for Partners for Rural Impact, a national nonprofit focused on improving outcomes for rural communities. His work connects technology, data, operations, and strategy to mission-driven results. He holds an MBA and has completed a post MBA studies in strategic leadership.

Through his writing, Moore explores the enduring connection between mission accomplishment and people development. His core belief is simple: leaders should develop people and create conditions for success.

He is currently working on his next book: Heavy Metal Leadership.
