Jonathan Scott Farley is an accredited Archives Conservator, Collections Care Consultant, and bookbinder with over forty years of experience in the heritage sector. He has dedicated his career to preserving history, combining traditional craftsmanship with a deep technical understanding of archives and collections care.
For twenty-five years, Jonathan was the Senior Conservator at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, managing the restoration of the Marianne North Gallery and its 865 paintings. His extensive portfolio spans national institutions, universities, and prestigious archives. He has conserved remarkably diverse materials, including Winchester Cathedral Charters, a Handel manuscript, and correspondence by Napoleon Bonaparte, Charles Darwin, and David Livingstone, through to navigational globes and gramophone horns.
An alumnus of Camberwell College of Arts and a former Tutor at West Dean College, Jonathan also runs White Horse Crafts, practicing and teaching papermaking, printing, and bookbinding.
