Peter Burchardt

Peter Burchardt writes about the gap between how something is supposed to work and how it actually does. His first book, Designed to Feel, traces the evolutionary origin of every important feeling we have — hunger, love, fear, jealousy, awe, shame, wanderlust, grief — and shows where each one misfires in modern life. It began as a private letter to his two sons and grew, over years of reading and reflection, into a full account of why we feel the way we do.
