The author's spiritual path of study and practice has spanned over 5 decades and the writings are shared with a view to leaving possible helpful pointers to others on similar journeys. The writings are especially based on personal experience - awareness from years of direct inquiry in and out of meditation - which has benefited from study and work with various teachers, including, but not limited to Douglas Harding, Aitken Roshi, Shaun de Warren, Amma, Barry Long, Srinivas Arka, Ram Dass, Christine Longaker, John Shodo Flatt, Fred Davis, and the teachings of Ramana Maharshi, Nisargadatta, Gurdjieff, Psychology of Vision and Eschatology.

Additionally, there are two tributes, one to a friend and another to an early teacher. These are intended to be teaching books about model aspects of the lives those two led. In the former case, it is largely lessons on how to live a meaningful life and have a meaningful death. In the latter, it is about appreciating that the thoughts, beliefs and feelings we have reflect out into our physical well-being (or unwell-being) and life experiences.

Finally, there is an early book about the history of English calendar customs and how they tie into the seasons. It describes how everyday ordinary - usually rural - people observed and celebrated key points in the year through recorded history . . . in other words history as it connects with weather and nature without needing to associate it with any governments, international events or conflict between people.
