Liesl H. Eberhardt

Liesl H. Eberhardt (PhD, University of Nebraska, Lincoln) is a teaching professor of leadership communication in the Department of Communication at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS). Since 2001, Dr. Eberhardt has been largely focused on the design and instruction of undergraduate and graduate curricula and supporting student research across a variety of modalities including courses in workplace oral communication, business and professional communication, gender and leadership, ethical leadership, professional public speaking, organizational leadership, leadership communication in a global environment, and leadership and organizational change. She has worked with faculty at the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management in Frankfurt, Germany, serving as an external thesis committee member and research supervisor. Her research interests have fallen primarily within the area of leadership and organizational communication, specifically perceptions of gender differences in leadership styles across various organizational contexts. Her research has been presented at the National Communication Association, the Rocky Mountain Communication Association, the Women in Education Leadership annual conferences, and featured in Women in Higher Education. Prior to her faculty appointment, Dr. Eberhardt served as the assistant director of a CU system first-generation college prep program and spent over a decade as a local business owner. Dr. Eberhardt received her PhD from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln in Educational Leadership and Higher Education Administration. She has studied abroad at both the Universitá di Siena, Tuscany, in Siena, Italy and the Universität Wien in Vienna, Austria. Dr. Eberhardt earned both her MA and BA from UCCS. She is currently co-faculty leader of a study abroad program to Italy, specifically, Rome and Naples. This includes visits to Sapienza Universitá di Roma and The Environmental Sustainability Center - Polo della Sostenibilità Ambientale in Naples to learn about global leadersip, sustainability, and change. When she is not teaching, she enjoys all Colorado has to offer and loves to travel whenever she can get away.
