Aaron Scot Kaplan

Aaron Kaplan is a psychologist, author, and podcast host originally from Palo Alto, California. He studied at Pitzer College before moving to Hawaiʻi in 1992, where he earned his doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. His early academic work focused on cross-cultural psychology, including research in Asia and a doctoral dissertation on ethnocultural perceptions of psychiatric symptoms in rural Nepal.

Aaron now lives and works in Honolulu, where he maintains a private practice and hosts Mind Tricks Radio, a podcast exploring psychology, creativity, literature, and the human mind. His fiction draws on his interests in psychology, survival, identity, and the strange ways people search for meaning under pressure.
