Matthew Paul

Commissioned a Second Lieutenant in 1999, he served in several Infantry assignments including Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003 with the 3rd Infantry Division and later the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). He earned multiple decorations for his combat service, including two Bronze Star awards.

He returned to Iraq in 2006 overseeing a large area of operations to ensure peace and stability, train the new Iraqi Security Forces, and conduct sustained counterinsurgency operations. Matthew Paul transitioned into the Army Acquisition Corps in 2009, deployed to Afghanistan in 2013 to equip the Army with next-generation drones, and was hand-picked to lead the Army's most consequential information technology projects over a decade.

He continues to serve the Army full-time, and works part-time as an adjunct college professor teaching information science. Matt is a graduate of Rowan University (B.S.), holds an M.S. in Management from Austin Peay State University, and earned a Masters in Government Information Leadership from the National Defense University.

Throughout his career, Matt has been recognized for his leadership and dedication to modernizing Army systems and developing the next generation of military leaders. His combined experience in combat operations and technological innovation brings a unique perspective to the story of Task Force 2-7 Infantry.
