Pierre Kory MD, MPA

Pierre Kory, M.D., is a pulmonary and critical care medicine specialist, educator, and author. He served as an Associate Professor and Chief of the Critical Care Service at the University of Wisconsin.

His academic work focused on critical care medicine and point-of-care ultrasonography. He helped develop and teach the use of ultrasound in the care of critically ill patients, led training programs at several academic medical centers, received teaching awards from multiple institutions, and served as a senior editor of the medical textbook *Point of Care Ultrasound*.

As a critical-care physician, Dr. Kory treated patients with multi-organ failure, a condition in which one underlying insult can disrupt several physiological systems in succession. That work shaped an approach centered on identifying the upstream process connecting apparently separate problems. The same perspective later influenced his writing about medical evidence, institutional decision-making, chronic disease, environmental health, water, and minerals.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Kory co-founded the Front Line COVID-19 Critical Care Alliance and served as its President and Chief Medical Officer. His work included reviewing emerging research, developing clinical protocols, educating physicians, and examining the use of repurposed medicines in COVID-19.

In *The War on Ivermectin*, he recounts the scientific and institutional conflict surrounding ivermectin during the pandemic. The book examines clinical evidence, medical publishing, public-health policy, media coverage, and the difficulties physicians encountered when their interpretations of the evidence differed from prevailing institutional positions.

*The War on Chlorine Dioxide* continues his examination of disputed medical treatments and the relationship among clinical observation, scientific evidence, institutional authority, and public controversy.

His books *The Silent Aquifer* and *The Blueprint of Life* turn to a broader question: how water, minerals, soil, geology, agriculture, and biological energy are connected. Drawing upon research from medicine, physiology, chemistry, geology, soil science, and environmental health, the books examine the pathways through which water and minerals move from stone and soil into plants, animals, and human life.

Across his writing, Dr. Kory explores a recurring theme: complex problems are often misunderstood when their interconnected parts are studied in isolation. Whether considering critical illness, pandemic medicine, chronic disease, contested therapies, depleted soils, or changing water systems, his work seeks the upstream processes that connect visible effects to their underlying causes.

He also writes *Pierre Kory’s Medical Musings*, a Substack publication featuring essays, medical commentary, research analysis, and reflections on medicine and public health.
