Donath Olomi

Donath R. Olomi, PhD, has spent three decades at the intersection of entrepreneurship, innovation, and institutional development in Africa, as researcher, entrepreneur, investor, board member, mentor, and innovation competition juror. He has designed, delivered, and evaluated entrepreneurship and innovation hub programes for universities, incubators, and accelerators, and co-authored An Enterprise Map of Tanzania with LSE's Professor John Sutton. He has advised organisations including the World Bank/IFC, USAID, the EU, and AGRA.

An entrepreneur himself, Donath founded a family hotel business, co-founded IMED Ltd, IMED Foundation, and Bagamoyo Brighthouse Academy, and serves on the boards of several ventures. He is the author of From Idea to Scale: A Practical Playbook for Venture and Ecosystem Builders in Developing Economies. Several founders profiled in the book, including former students and a brother, are people he has known for years, lending it a rare closeness.
