I wrote this book with the guidance of the Holy Spirit. It tells the true story of my childhood in Cuba as the revolution brought communism - a system that destroyed lives, separated families, and tried to erase faith. I grew up in a home that loved God and stayed close to Him. Even as a child, I knew God was with me wherever I went, and that He saw everything, even when the world around me was falling apart.
The revolution displaced our lives, our church, our customs, and our society. It shattered families and silenced worship. I witnessed killings, torture, and imprisonment of innocent people - anyone the revolutionaries believed stood against their dogma or whose property they wanted to seize.
I was a political exile, and then we became American citizens. It is a testimony of courage, faith, strength, and survival. It is also a story of deep gratitude to the United States of America for allowing us to come and rebuild our lives - because freedom is not to be taken for granted.
