Xi (Bill) Chen, Ph.D., is an applied machine learning engineer at Meta and author of Deep Learning with C++ (Packt), a hands-on guide to building high-performance AI systems with LibTorch and CUDA. His industry career spans speech recognition and search ranking at Meta, surgical AI, and computational biology. He is co-editor of Explainable Artificial Intelligence for Biomedical Applications (River Publishers) and XAI in Healthcare (CRC Press), with peer-reviewed research in genomics and cancer detection.
Xi teaches machine learning and deep learning at UC Santa Cruz Silicon Valley Extension and is an NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute Certified Instructor. He holds a Ph.D. in Bioinformatics from the University of Kentucky with graduate training in Statistics. He lives in San Francisco.
