Dr. Icon

Dr. Icon is a lifelong learner, educator, author, and storyteller whose passion for words, children, and education has inspired countless lives. Affectionately known as Dr. Icon, Super Connie, The Queen of Rhyme, and The Word Whisperer, she brings humor, heart, and wisdom to everything she writes.

With more than five decades of experience in education, counseling, and leadership, Dr. Icon is a grammar guru, writing enthusiast, dancing ambassador, fashionista, accomplished counselor, devoted animal lover, follower of Christ, and creative spirit. Raised on a farm, she proudly considers herself a tractor-driving, homegrown farmer's daughter who understands the importance of hard work, perseverance, and dedication. Today, she continues to share her joy, wit, and love of learning with readers of all ages.

Dr. Icon earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and a Master of Science in Guidance and Counseling, along with a School Psychological Examiner Certificate, from Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, Missouri. While teaching and counseling full-time, she completed her Ph.D. in Education and Philosophy at Saint Louis University through evening studies. She later earned a Specialist Degree in School Administration, specializing in principalship and superintendency, from the University of Missouri–St. Louis. She is also a Missouri Licensed Professional Counselor and has served as a university professor.

Through her delightful stories, Dr. Icon encourages children to grow emotionally, spiritually, academically, and socially. Her books inspire kindness, confidence, resilience, and a lifelong love of learning—all while entertaining readers with memorable characters, clever rhymes, and meaningful life lessons.
