Kyle C. Freitus has been telling stories since he was ten, born with the kind of hyperactive imagination that turned dreams and passing ideas into characters and worlds of their own. “California-born and Virginia-raised,” as he likes to say, Kyle eventually found his way into military service with the U.S. Marine Corps. After serving as a Marine, he moved into the private sector as a contractor, where travel, hard-earned experience, and the people he met along the way continued to shape the stories he wanted to tell.
After years of carrying the idea in fragments, notes, old writing exercises, and half-formed scenes, Kyle finally put The Break Saga on the page. The result is King’s Pawn, a story born from a lifelong love of science fiction, fantasy, tabletop adventures, video games, and the darker edges of real-world experience. Through his fiction, Kyle seeks to blend the wonder of impossible worlds with the grit, consequence, and cost of survival.
Kyle believes every story should leave readers with something worth carrying away. His work explores sacrifice, loss, endurance, and the difference between winning a battle and living with what it cost. When he is not writing, he is usually still pursuing the same passions that helped fuel the story in the first place.
