Alan Merrick

Alan Merrick was born in Central New York, where he currently lives with his family. After studying Human Services and Psychology, he began working at the Rescue Mission in both the homeless shelter and drug and alcohol rehabilitation program.

After several years in that field, Merrick began his law enforcement career with his local police department, where he currently serves on midnight patrol. A ten-year veteran of his department, he writes both fiction and nonfiction, drawing from his experiences with policing, mental health, trauma, addiction, and the people often encountered during life’s most difficult moments.

Outside of writing, Alan enjoys spending time with his family and cooking. He also continues to volunteer at the Rescue Mission by speaking at chapel service once a month. His goal is to reach readers through stories that inspire, educate, and offer a deeper understanding of the human side of service.
