James E Hughes

James E. ("Jay") Hughes Jr., a resident of Boulder, Colorado, is the author of Family Wealth: Keeping It in the Family, Family: The Compact Among Generations, and co-author of Family Flourishing: The True Meaning of Wealth, along with numerous other books on family wealth, human flourishing, and individual and multigenerational well-being.

Jay founded a New York City law partnership specializing in advising private clients around the world and is now retired from the active practice of law. He is a graduate of Princeton University and Columbia Law School.

In 2021, The James E. Hughes, Jr. Foundation was established in Jay's honor as a gift to continue advancing and sharing the philosophy that has shaped his life's work.
