Graeme Davidson, PhD, is Lead Data Scientist at Retail Express, building production demand forecasting for wholesalers and supermarkets, along with the systems that support decision-making: price elasticity, recommendation systems and agentic AI, etc.
He took the long way round: a PhD and post-doc in cognitive neuroscience at Liverpool (motivational dynamics, or simply 'when and why food grabs attention'), teaching statistics at the university alongside these roles, then advertising analytics. Same underlying problem throughout, really. Noisy signals over time, and people who want certainty from them.
He co-wrote Time Series with PyTorch with Lei Ma; much of the book focuses on evaluation, because it's easy to be very certain and very wrong.
