JONATHAN Rafael HUMPHRIES

Jonathan Humphries is a professional cellist, teacher, author and founder of TheCelloCoach. He has taught for more than twenty-five years, working with students across three continents and helping players understand the fingerboard, build reliable technique and make confident musical choices.

His teaching is practical, visual and shaped by what students actually need in lessons. Rather than treating scales, positions and repertoire as separate subjects, he connects them into one clear system. His books include *The CelloCoach Scale Book*, *The String Player’s Color Position Method*, *The CelloCoach Repertoire Companion* and *Scale Maps for Cello*.

Jonathan also created an AI cello-coaching app designed to give players useful feedback between lessons. His wider work includes online courses, educational videos and teaching materials used by cellists around the world.

Originally from the United States and now based near Toulouse, France, he continues to teach, write and develop new tools for modern string players.
