Matthew S. C. Olver

Matthew S.C. Olver is the Executive Director and Publisher of The Living Church Foundation, Senior Lecturer in Liturgics at Nashotah House Theological Seminary, and has been a priest in the Episcopal Church since 2006. Previously he was Associate Professor of Liturgics at Nashotah House Theological Seminary (2014-2023) and Assistant Rector at Church of the Incarnation, Dallas (2006-13). He has a PhD in systematic and liturgical theology from Marquette University, an MDiv from Duke Divinity School, and a BA in literature from Wheaton College. He has published and lectured widely in the area of early Christian liturgy and the development of the Book of Common Prayer in journals such as Anglican Theological Review, Nova et Vetera, Studia Liturgica, Ecclesia Orans, Journal of Early Christian Studies, Studia Patristica, and the Harvard Theological Review. His monograph is forthcoming from Brepols, titled, "The Origin of the Roman Canon Missae." He is currently working on a history of the early Western Mass lectionary and a history of Episcopal canon law.
