Iona Monk, MA, is a Vancouver based couples counsellor with more than twenty-five years of experience helping couples and individuals create stronger, more fulfilling relationships. She has spent almost as much time working on improving her own marriage- and believes that even the strongest relationships need attention, care and maintenance.
Iona is the co-creator and co-host of the popular podcast, Relationship Dish, where she openly discusses her own relationship challenges and shares practical insights to help listeners feel less shame and stigma around their own marital struggles.
She holds a bachelor's degree in clinical psychology from McGill University and a master's degree in counselling psychology from the University of British Columbia. She specializes in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP).
Her first book, Happy For The Long Haul, brings together her years of experience as a couples therapist with the lessons she has learned in her own marriage, offering practical guidance for couples who want not just to stay together, but to stay connected.
Iona lives in Vancouver, British Columbia, with her husband and their dog. She enjoys travel, exercise and eating very tasty food.
