Paul Damien

Paul Damien is a novelist whose work draws on a lifelong fascination with literature, music, and complex human stories. His debut crime thriller, Nannerl’s Symphony, inspired by Mozart’s history, was adapted into a screenplay and optioned by Paramount.

His second thriller, The Gershwin Cutter, is inspired by true events and follows a cult survivor, a one-eyed cutting horse, and a retired detective through the darker corners of Texas. The novel was personally selected by Oscar-nominated actress and author Mariel Hemingway for her book club, and Hemingway wrote the book’s foreword.

Paul holds a PhD in Mathematics from Imperial College London and an endowed professorship at the University of Texas at Austin. He has authored 100+ academic papers, received multiple research awards, and was a finalist for the U.S. National Library of Poetry Award.

A lifelong Emily Dickinson devotee, Paul’s interests include poetry, classical music, martial arts, and animals. He is the proud pet parent of a blue-eyed Alsatian.
