John Maloney

My name is John Maloney. I was born in Queens, New York, in 1962. In 1972, my family moved to Columbus, Ohio, where I lived for the next 50 years. In 2022, my wife and I began a new chapter and moved to Southwest Florida, where we currently live with our two dogs. We have three children—two adult daughters and a son who is in Heaven.

I have always enjoyed sports, with basketball being my favorite. These days, I also enjoy live music and taking advantage of the Florida lifestyle by spending time at the beach and visiting local tiki bars. My wife and I love to travel, which often means visiting family and friends throughout the country and making memories with the people who mean the most to us.

After the death of our six-year-old son in 2011, journaling became an incredibly important part of my life. My wife and I also spent many years attending a grief support group specifically for parents who had lost children. That group became an invaluable part of our healing journey. We entered as students, searching for guidance on how to survive such an unimaginable loss, and eventually found ourselves becoming teachers—helping other parents learn how to navigate and survive their own "new normal."

Helping others has become something I deeply value, and I believe it is part of my life's calling. With the publication of Letters to My Noah Man and Me, I hope to extend that purpose even further. By sharing my experiences, struggles, lessons, and journey through grief, my hope is that this book can reach people who are hurting, remind them that they are not alone, and perhaps help them find their own way forward.
