DAN FRENCH became a music fan in the early 1970s, and since first going to his first concert in 1972 has travelled around the UK, Europe, to the United States and once to Australia – often with the excuse of doing international ice cream research – for many more shows, so far over 800 in 2026. Those included many Bruce Springsteen concerts, covered in his first book, ‘Grab Your Ticket And Your Suitcase’ (Trethewey Press, 2025). His second book, ‘Ticket Stub Stories: 20th Century Boy’ (Trethewey Press, 2026) features memories of over 300 concerts from the 20th century.
In the 1980s Dan published the UK Springsteen fanzine ‘Point Blank’ and other independent productions, later running several Bruce- and music-related Facebook groups, and contributing to The E Street Café Podcast.
He lives at Signal Hill, his flat in Hertfordshire with its nearby Overground Garage (‘Little Stevenage’), surrounded by too much Springsteen memorabilia, too little space, and maybe just enough ice cream.
