Sharon Lee Williams

Sharon Lee Williams is an author, singer songwriter, television host, and lifelong storyteller whose journey

began in foster care, in Montreal, Quebec, where she was raised from infancy until leaving care in her teens.

Her memoir, OutRaised: Finding My Voice Beyond Foster Care, is the story of a young girl searching for

belonging, identity, family, and eventually, her own voice. Told with honesty, reflection, humour, and hope,

OutRaised looks beyond what happened to ask a deeper question: Who do we become when we begin to

understand and make peace with the stories that shaped us?

Sharon Lee Williams is also a contributing author to the #1 Best Seller International collaborative book

Ripple Effect of Impact. Her chapter, “Scar Tissue,” reflects on the scars we carry, the stories behind them, and

what we choose to do with them.

Sharon Lee Williams’ creative career began in 1970 with Hair in Montreal and grew into more than five

decades in the entertainment industry as a singer, session vocalist, performer, vocal and performance

coach, songwriter, entrepreneur, and studio owner. Along the way, she worked alongside artists including

Ray Charles, Luther Vandross, and Bob Seger, and co produced, wrote, and directed Hot Wax, a musical

tribute to the great girl groups of the Motown era. Her voice can also be heard on Fraggle Rock and Noddy,

as well as other voice over projects.

At 31, Sharon Lee Williams purchased her first home as a single woman, one of many moments in her life

when possibility proved stronger than circumstance.

Today, Sharon Lee Williams is also the creator, producer, and host of OutRaised Voices TV, a streaming talk

show reaching audiences through YouTube and dedicated to conversations about foster care, adoption,

belonging, identity, and the many ways we define family. At the heart of the conversations is a simple belief:

our stories matter, and so do our voices.

Now 76, Sharon Lee Williams is still writing, singing, creating, questioning, and discovering what comes

next. She is a mother, grandmother, partner, entrepreneur, and woman who does not pretend to have all the

answers.

Her work is rooted in belonging, forgiveness, possibility, and finding the courage to use your voice, even

when it takes a lifetime to discover it.

Each day adds another page to the chapters of our lives, and sometimes, those pages become the

stories we were meant to tell.
