Jim Petro, former Ohio Attorney General, is co-author with Nancy Petro, of FALSE JUSTICE - A FORMER STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL CONFRONTS OUR BROKEN CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM AND EXPOSES 12 MYTHS THAT CONVICT THE INNOCENT, published in its 3rd edition by Prometheus Books (The Globe Pequot Publlshing Group in July 2026.

Jim has had a career dedicated to public service, law, and criminal justice reform. He retired as Chancellor of the University System of Ohio in 2013. His legal career included litigating cases in venues from Mayor's Court to the United States Supreme Court. He also pursued public service and was elected to serve Ohioans as a state legislator, state auditor and Attorney General, a position that led him to become the first sitting attorney general to intervene with the Innocence Project on behalf of an imprisoned convicted rapist and murderer. Jim has spent nearly twenty years engaged in this topic seeking to free innocent people and advocate reforms in the system.
