Dr. M. Varshavski

Dr. Mike Varshavski is a board-certified family medicine physician, medical educator, entrepreneur, and content creator who has devoted much of his career to making medical information easier for people to understand. Born in Saransk, Soviet Union, in 1989, Dr. Mike moved with his family to the United States as a child and grew up in Brooklyn, New York. Inspired partly by his father, who was also a physician, he pursued a career in medicine. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from New York Institute of Technology in 2011 and his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree in 2014. He later completed his family medicine residency and became a board-certified physician.

As a medical student and young physician, Dr. Mike began sharing aspects of his life and medical knowledge on social media. His popularity grew rapidly, and in 2015, People magazine named him the “Sexiest Doctor Alive.” Rather than using his growing popularity solely for entertainment, he began using his platform to educate people about health, medicine, and common medical misconceptions. This eventually led to the creation of his popular Doctor Mike YouTube channel, where he discusses health topics, explains medical conditions, reacts to medical scenes in movies and television, interviews guests, and works to combat medical misinformation. His educational work has earned him multiple honors, including Webby Awards and a Streamy Award. He has also built an audience of millions of people across social media platforms.

Dr. Mike continues to practice medicine while pursuing his work as a medical educator and entrepreneur. He has also been involved in philanthropy through his Limitless Tomorrow Foundation and has supported charitable causes, including healthcare initiatives during the COVID-19 pandemic. Outside of medicine and media, he has a passion for fitness and boxing and competed in a professional boxing match in 2022. Through his combination of medical training, clinical experience, communication skills, and passion for education, Dr. Mike has become one of the most recognizable physicians on the internet. His work continues to focus on helping people understand their health and make more informed decisions while reminding his audience of the importance of evidence-based medical care.
