Patrick Lawler

I’m Patrick Lawler, an author who lives on the North Norfolk Coast in England.I have  a lifelong passion for storytelling, people, animals and the places that make Britain special.

My writing draws on real experiences, memories and a love of the human stories found in ordinary lives. My memoir, Through Care and Beyond, is a deeply personal account of growing up in care and finding a way forward, exploring childhood, resilience, identity and the experiences that shape us.

Alongside memoir, I also enjoy writing lighter, character-driven stories inspired by travel, family life, friendship and the British landscape. My Home Is Where We Park series follows the adventures of a married couple travelling around Britain in their Volkswagen camper van, accompanied by their Labrador, discovering the humour and unexpected moments that come with life on the road.

Whether I’m writing about difficult chapters from the past or creating entertaining journeys around Britain, my aim is the same: to tell stories that feel genuine, relatable and memorable.
