Jeffrey L Dishner

Jeff Dishner, NCARB, is the founding principal of Craft Architecture, with offices in Greenville, South Carolina and Asheville, North Carolina. For more than thirty six years he has designed custom homes across the Southern Appalachian region, much of that work in mountain and lake communities where private clubs and gated developments hold their architecture to a demanding standard.

He earned his Master of Architecture from Clemson University in 1990. His work draws on the classical tradition, from Vitruvius and Palladio through Lutyens and Voysey, but every project begins with the site and the family rather than with a signature style. He presents his designs through hand drawn sketches, a practice that keeps the design conversation open with clients at the stage when their input matters most.

Jeff grew up around and working the building trades, and that upbringing gave him an unique respect for the people who build, alongside a clear sense of his obligation to the homeowner who hires him. He has served on local and state Preservation Commissions and Design Review Boards and is active in local government and social causes.

He is the father of three grown children. When he is not drawing, he is at the piano, traveling to look at buildings, or out on the water.
