Rui Fausto

Rui Fausto, also known in his musical work as Ralph Mrslo, is a Portuguese scientist, university professor, musician, and multidisciplinary creator. Professor at the University of Coimbra and Istanbul Kültür University (Türkiye), he has built an international career in molecular spectroscopy, photochemistry, and molecular structure, authoring hundreds of scientific publications and leading research, education, and international collaborations.

Alongside science, music has remained a lifelong passion, from his early work as a keyboard player and songwriter to his recent exploration of AI-assisted musical creation. His creative interests extend to conceptual albums, opera, writing, visual art, and other forms of artistic expression. Across these diverse fields, his work is guided by a common impulse: transforming knowledge and imagination into meaningful forms of communication while exploring connections between science, art, technology, and culture.
