K. Eric Crook

Eric Crook comes from a family of authors and artists where creativity and self-expression are ingrained values. His development as a writer was built on years of work in creative writing, poetry, technical writing, and various forms of literature studied while completing a bachelor’s in forest management and a master’s in city and regional planning. The common theme in his approach to writing fiction is verisimilitude—a story that sounds like the truth is compelling to read and a joy to write.

During his days as a forester in the Pacific Northwest, he was a crew leader for the first computer-based forest inventory in the United States. Years later, Eric became a senior planner with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority in New York where he authored the concept plan for the Second Avenue Subway and devised the current “Poetry in Motion” program with the Transit Authority.

He is a supporter of his local community where he is a past member of the City of East Providence planning board and a current member of Ocean State Writers. He is also an advocate for state reforestation legislation throughout the United States.

In addition to Between a Rock . . . (Gatekeeper Press 2025) he has authored a book of poetry, Greatest Hits (Stillwater River Publications 2017). Eric is married with two grown children.
